Reggie swear forgiven, Gaga profanity criticised

by creativebiznews 12. January 2010 10:40

Little old Reggie Yates has been cleared by media regulator OfCom for accidentally announcing on the Radio 1 Chart Show last year that he had "shit loads" of stuff to talk about. The Chart Show host immediately realised his error, and apologised profusely for the slip. Nevertheless two listeners complained to the regulator. But OfCom chiefs decided not to uphold the complaints, possibly on the basis that the on air slip is one of our favourite snippets on the Radio Fail website.

MTV, though, have been criticised for airing a Lady Gaga performance recorded at their Isle Of MTV festival last summer in which the controversy-hungry popstress used the word "motherfuckers". The performance went out at 4pm, a time at which, the regulator ruled, more kids would be watching than actual motherfuckers. MTV apologised, saying the swear word went out by mistake when a cock-up at their Italien offices meant an uncut version of the Gaga set was put on air instead of the intended kid-friendly edit.
